The thicker head gasket made of multi-layer metal lowers the compression ratio. This allows you to run higher boost pressures without the engine starting to knock. In addition, your 2.5L TFSI engine gets more clearance between piston and combustion chamber, as over-revving can cause major damage to the crankshaft!
